Vaillant's support helps young people access the Duke of Edinburgh Award, where they are gaining essential skills and attributes for work and life

Thanks to the kind support of Vaillant, Torus Foundation is able to help more young people through the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) at their FireFit Youth and Community Hub facility.

DofE offers young people a life changing experience, the opportunity to discover new interests and talents and is a mark of achievement respected by employers.

The programme allows young people to overcome any personal challenges and develop resilience, focus and motivation. Sessions help participants to build new skills, engage with others, try new activities and volunteer, while building confidence and a sense of achievement.

The financial commitment required by young people and their families to participate in DofE has been a barrier for many of our members at FireFit. With the support of Vaillant, Torus Foundation is able to remove the financial barrier and support young people onto the programme.

The £6,882 kindly donated by Vaillant has funded expedition equipment, sleeping bags, roll mats, rucksacks, tents, cookers, waterproofs, compasses and GPS tracking equipment. The project is in the early stages and we are excited to see the full impact for each young person as they complete their Bronze Award over the coming year.
