Amy had just finished a Kickstarter placement as a Marketing Assistant and didn’t really know what she wanted to do next. She was solo applying to lots of different jobs but not getting any responses from employers. She was beginning to feel unmotivated and wasn’t sure what to do next.
Then, after a meeting at her local job centre, she was referred to Springboard. She met up with her mentor Claire and they immediately got to work writing Amy’s cover letters for applications. Claire talked Amy through what employers were looking for and then they were able to produce examples of relevant experience she already had to show she could do the job she was applying for.
Amy said ‘’ This really helped because beforehand I didn’t really know how to or what to write in a cover letter and usually just sent my CV in alone.’’
‘’Claire also supported me in searching for jobs and sent me some to apply to which really helped me out because sometimes if I was fatigued, I didn’t have the energy to search, write and apply for the jobs. That allowed me to send in more applications.’’
‘’She helped me feel more confident going for jobs because she was so positive about the experience I had and I cannot thank her enough.’’
Claire Birchall, Amy’s mentor said "Amy was an absolute pleasure to support on the Springboard programme. We worked towards identifying a clear goal for what Amy wanted to achieve, and we ensured this was prioritised when creating her action plan.
I was determined that Amy’s disability, would not be a barrier to her finding employment. We focused on her amazing talent and a vast number of transferable skills.
Amy always remained positive and upbeat, even when faced with some of the challenges of searching for work. I am very proud of what Amy has achieved in such a short space of time, and I wish her all the best in the future".
As a result of the help and support Amy received from Springboard, she was able to land herself a Marketing Executive role within Torus foundation working for the New leaf programme!!
Well, Done Amy!
