How will you make a difference in your community in 67 minutes?

Torus Foundation is proud sponsors for this year’s Mandela8’s celebrations, marking Mandela Week 13th – 20th July focusing on the ‘My67minutes campaign which highlights the impact being made across our communities during COVID19.

Whether you’ve 67minutes to spare entertaining neighbours who are still shielding, litter picking in your local park or perhaps volunteering while on furlough, why not be a part of the campaign and make a difference in your area.

While working closely with Torus tenants and wider community in recent months through the pandemic, our team has seen an increased demand for support, whether it be for financial advice, food parcels or help after losing their job. As we continue to deliver the help needed to those people, we’ve also seen great acts of kindness. Whether it’s local organisations helping one another to provide resources or community members coming forward to volunteer their time, the impact is being made across our neighbourhoods.

If you or someone you know if spending 67mins during the week of 13th – 20th July to benefit others, why not share to encourage others to do the same – don’t forget to tag us in @torusfoundation @mandela8 along with #My67minutes. If you’re highlighting someone else’s contribution don’t forget to ask their permission before uploading their 67mins!

Kate Shone, Managing Director of Torus Foundation, said, “Torus Foundation is really pleased that Mandela8 have expanded their My67Minutes programme this year and we’re really proud to be the campaign’s main sponsor. This pandemic has had a huge impact on us all and we hope that the people of Liverpool and the wider community will join Mandela8 to remember their loved ones and thank those who have worked tirelessly during these unprecedented times.”

In the words of Mandela, “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”

Through various community initiatives, the Liverpool based charity Mandela8, celebrates, commemorates and pursues the legacy of Nelson Mandela’s outstanding achievement for humanity. As part of Mandela week, Mandela8 has also created a platform to help people recognise the lives lost as a result of COVID19. If you’d like to contribute, you’re invited to send your messages to
