As part of the Torus Foundation’s focus with Health and Wellbeing, the Yummy Chefs programme helps introduce a variety of healthy foods to young children.
Health and Wellbeing Officer, Tracey, has been working with a number of primary schools to encourage the young pupils to try healthy food.
“Yummy Chefs allow children to have ownership of their food and it’s great to see how they are enjoying themselves while learning.”
The sessions involve talking about the benefits of particular food and where it comes from. Not only are the children learning about food, they’re also using their motor skills when it comes to using their hands squeezing, chopping and cutting to prepare something new.
Nursery Manager at Trinity Primary School, Liverpool explains,
“The partnership with Torus Foundation has allowed our children to try a range of fruit and veg that some don’t have access to on a regular basis.”
