Torus Foundation is embarking on supporting more young people into work by becoming a gateway organisation for the Government Kickstart Scheme, a £2 billion fund to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month jobs for young people aged 16-24, who are claiming Universal Credit.

Employers of all sizes who can create quality jobs for young people can apply and they will have access a large pool of young people with potential, ready for an opportunity through the local job centre.

The Government will fund each ‘Kickstart’ job

  • Paying 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week for 6 months, plus the associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions. Employers can top this up by paying the National Living Wage and/or by offering increased hours per week.

  • Funding will also be available to support young people to develop new skills and to help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart funded job.

Torus Foundation will help provide this additional employment and skills to help maximise the young person’s opportunity of entering or returning to the job market.

More information of opportunities for communities, will follow in the coming weeks. In the meantime if you’re an employer looking to apply, please email ‘Kickstart’ and your details to
