To enhance the support for young people into work, Torus Foundation has become a gateway organisation for the Government Kickstart Scheme, which is creating high quality 6-month jobs for young people aged 16-24 who are also unemployed and claiming Universal Credit.

Current opportunities include 16 roles at leading North West contractor, HMS. To help enhance the gardening service being delivered to communities across Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington, HMS is looking for 14 x general operatives and 2 business admin positions.

The roles are for 6 months, 25 hrs a week and paid £9.50 per hour, which is more than the national minimum wage.

If you have any questions about the roles or would like to apply, please contact your Work Coaches at Job Centre Plus (JCP) asap the open day for operatives takes place on Tues 20th April. The deadline for the business admin roles closes on 7th May.

Once in post, Torus Foundation will be on hand to provide free additional employment and skills support to help build your CV during the six months.

Joining as a gateway organisation for the Government’s Kickstart employment scheme, the Foundation is able to bring on board employers to the initiative as well providing employment support where requested.

Employers of all sizes who can create quality jobs for young people can apply and they will have access a large pool of young people with potential, ready for an opportunity through the local job centre.

The Government will fund each ‘Kickstart’ job

  • Paying 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week for 6 months, plus the associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions. Employers can top this up by paying the National Living Wage and/or by offering increased hours per week.
  • Funding will also be available to support young people to develop new skills and to help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart funded job.

Torus Foundation will help provide this additional employment and skills to help maximise the young person’s opportunity of entering or returning to the job market.
